Everything you need to make a China Sichuan Kung Pao chicken meal for two at home. Meal pack includes sliced, marinated chicken, homemade pickled China Sichuan chili relish, Kung Pao sauce, and jasmine rice. Get Sichuan on your table in twenty minutes!

Recipe can be halved

To cook the rice

For stovetop:

  1. For each tub rice add 1 and half tub water to a saucepan.
  2. Bring rice and water to boil.
  3. Cover the saucepan and simmer for 20 minutes or until rice is cooked.

NOTE: If you have a rice cooker follow the instructions on the rice cooker.

To cook the chicken

  1. Over medium high heat, heat 1 tbsp cooking oil (not provided) in a heavy bottomed saucepan.
  2. When the oil is hot add the ginger, garlic, dried chili, and Sichuan pepper and cook for 1-2 minutes until the chilli begins to blister.
  3. Add the chicken and fry 3-4 minutes until the chicken is cooked through.
  4. Pour the sauce into the pan and simmer for one minute.
  5. Add the scallions.
  6. In a separate bowl mix 20g potato starch with 4 tsp cold water until smooth.
  7. Slowly add potato starch mixture into the pan.
  8. Simmer until the sauce has thickened.
  9. Add chilli oil according to personal preference. Start with half teaspoon and adjust to your liking.
  10. Ensure chicken is thoroughly cooked prior to consumption.
  11. To plate, sprinkle the cashew nuts over the top. Serve with rice and enjoy.
